Area Four, named after the Cambridge neighborhood between Central, Inman and Kendall squares, has won pizza connoisseurs over with its wood-fired pies. Throw in locally-sourced ingredients, craft beer and cocktails, hand-crafted coffee, soft-serve ice cream plus a cool vibe, and Area Four has become a favorite for adults eating out with kids.
The dining room at the Area Four flagship restaurant in Kendall Square is divided into several areas. For families with young kids, ask to be seated in the quieter and more open café or low tables in the main dining room.
If sitting in the large area near the pizza ovens, navigating a few stairs and the large, communal tables doesn’t leave much room for strollers. Just ask the host staff where to park your stroller before being seated.
Great. Young diners are greeted warmly with personal clip boards with coloring sheets and crayons. There are high chairs and just the right noise level for families eating out with kids.
The dinner menu is organized in two categories: Not Pizza and Pizza. Pizza is the main attraction here. Pizza dough fermented for 30+ hours and fresh ingredients identified by where it is coming from signals this is not your ordinary pizza. For those avoiding carbs, Not Pizza includes salads, ½ Roast Chicken and Pork Ribs.
- Garlic Knots
- Margherita Pizza
- Sausage & Banana Peppers Pizza
- Sundae of the Day
is big enough for a family of four with room for dessert.
There is no kid’s menu but families eating out with kids will have plenty to choose from. The Margherita is a basic pie with hand-pulled mozzarella and fresh basil. Kids can also choose to add extra toppings such as bacon and chicken. There’s also Mac & Cheese and a Trio of Spreads even the pickiest of diners will enjoy.
