FuGaKyu, which means House of Exquisite Elegance, has been a Japanese cuisine destination since it opened its doors over 15 years ago. Walk through the doors of its flagship restaurant on Beacon Street in Coolidge Corner in Brookline and you can see why. Bubbling koi pond, stone sculptures and bamboo transports you to a different world. Add booths with sliding doors, private tatami rooms, and solid sushi and FuGaKyu offers a truly unique, family-friendly dining experience.
Reserve or request a private booth with sliding door. Kids love the privacy (as do some of the other diners looking for a quiet dining experience)
Outstanding. Families are greeted with smiles and kid’s menus are offered to young diners. Staff is happy to help you stow your strollers. You’ll find loads of families happily dining throughout the massive multi-level dining room.
Make sure you request training chopsticks for kids (or for you) and watch your little ones try to master using chopsticks.
FuGaKyu has one of the most extensive Japanese menus around. There’s sushi and maki of course. But also check out savory appetizers, lunch specials, tempura, rice and noodles dishes, and entrees.
