Jake’s is seasonal and closes for a few months over the winter. It’s recommended to check their website or give them a call to verify hours if you’re coming from out of town.
Paragon Amusement Park may have been closed down for years, but the action along Nantasket Beach is still alive and well today. From lively bars with Jimmy Buffett blasting out open windows, to the sound of laughter from nearby kids on the historic carousel, strolling the boardwalk at Nantasket is a pleasant way to spend a day no matter the season. Jake’s Seafood, located on the bay, is a kid-friendly seafood restaurant that has been a dining cornerstone of Nantasket since 1949, providing top quality seafood when you’re ready to take a break from working on your suntan.
The main dining room offers efficient service from friendly waitstaff with tasty lunch and dinner menus and full bar. For those who want to grab some tasty grub and get back into the sunshine as quickly as possible, take out is a fabulous option, whether you score a table on Jake’s small, seat yourself patio or go for a picnic on the beach.
Jake’s is a great place to watch the local fireworks! You can see nearby Hingham and Hull fireworks from the patio outside. Grab some take out food inside and relax with a drink and good food al fresco.
Good. Jake’s certainly has a welcoming family feeling and the staff is great at this kid-friendly seafood restaurant. The ladies room features a full changing table (no wrangling with a pull down contraption here!) with plenty of room for privacy. Crayons are cool, but newly introduced kid pleasers in the form of squishy plastic frogs are available from Ed’s captain chair at the front.
Not surprisingly given the name, seafood is the main attraction at Jake’s – with a broad mix of fried and healthier options on offer. The seafood spread spans the budget and palate. From inexpensive fried seafood sandwiches and platters to higher end delights, Jake’s has something for every customer – big and small. Jake’s changes their blackboard menu daily, with fresh catch of the day featured and cooked to your taste. For you landlubbers, there are plenty of non-seafood options like steak, chicken and pasta – but take our word for it – fish is the star at Jake’s!
- Onion Rings (a half portion can be an appetizer for 4!)
- Buffalo Style Fish
- Tilapia Piccata
- Clambake dinner
- Fish N’ Chips
While the kid amenities are stacked up, one look at the kid’s menu can send you into a bit of a sticker shock. Kids meals run from $4.95-$9.95 (with more at the top of that range than the bottom) and drinks like sodas and milk are an additional charge. In addition to the usual kiddie menu fare, Jake’s kid’s menu features zestier choices like popcorn shrimp, baked scrod, fish and chips and peanut butter and fluff.
