There are lots of kid-friendly brunch options in the Greater Boston area. But if you’re looking for something where the quality of food is as tasty as its décor – then head to the Deluxe Town Diner just outside of Boston in Watertown. From the outside, it looks like a greasy diner you drive by in the middle-of-nowheresville. But the crowds of people waiting for a table on the weekends tell you otherwise.

family-friendly restaurant tip Deluxe Town Diner is a popular brunch destination. You won’t have to wait if you get there before 9:30am.

family-friendly restaurant tip If there is a wait, your kids can have fun with some sidewalk chalk outside. Or head around the corner to the restaurants bakery/take-out spot until your table is ready. Colorful cupcakes and fun merchandise will keep everyone occupied.

Excellent. The helpful staff at this kid-friendly brunch spot will gladly bring crayons and activity sheets to keep young diners busy.

family-friendly restaurant tip Space is tight in this old-school diner. Leave your folded stroller in the vestibule or outside. Ask for a booth if you need to bring in a car seat.

Main Menu:

The food at Deluxe Town Diner is not your typical diner fare. Sure you will find your retro items like burgers and fries, Reuben’s and milkshakes. But here you’ll also find Sweet Potato Flapjacks to Ployes (non-dairy, buckwheat and wheat pancake from French Acadia). While Chef William Simpkins (with stints at Rialto and Legal Harborside) has brought a level of sophistication to the dinner menu, weekend brunch is clearly a destination for many.

  • Anything “From the Griddle” (Pancakes)
  • Hash Benedict

Not to mention rice and beans, hummus and pita, and granola and fresh fruit.
