Tucked into the ground floor of The Inn at Scituate Harbor, this Latin-inspired, kid-friendly restaurant offers a perfect destination for dining out with kids, no matter the time of year. With an interior offering 10-ish standard tables, bar seating or cozy, loungey, leather couch seating around a fireplace, they also have one of the best patios on the South Shore for the warmer months, boasting views of Scituate Harbor and The Old Scituate Light. The sister restaurant of Scituate’s Restaurant Oro, Tesoro is the more casual of the two, and an even more kid-friendly vibe.
In any month but summer, you’ll likely be seated right away if you’re there on the early side. In summer, Scituate Harbor is bumping, so be prepared to wait a little bit–enjoy some time out on the patio, or watching the boats in the Harbor until your table is ready.
Like much of Scituate Harbor, Tesoro sits in a “dead zone” of cellular service. To ease your separation anxiety, hook into Tesoro’s complimentary WiFi–the network name and password is always written on the mirror behind the bar.
There’s no official changing table, but the restaurant shares bathrooms with the Inn’s pool, which are more mini lounge/changing rooms than bathroom. Parents can use a changing pad to take advantage of the separate changing areas, benches, tables and more to get down to diapering business.
The Latin flavors here have been Americanized, and everything on the menu is so darn tasty you’ll be grateful for every bite. Don’t miss:
- Fish Tacos
- Buttermilk Fried Chicken Taco
- House made chips and guacamole
- Chipotle BBQ Wings
There’s no official kid’s menu, but the host and wait staff always make a point to let you know the kitchen can do quesadillas or house made chicken fingers and fries for those kiddos not digging the main menu. Items kids love from the main menu include the chips and guac, rice and beans and sliders (with or without the green chiles).
- Easy entrance/access for strollers
- Changing tables (see tip above)
- Stroller storage
- High chairs
- Street parking is available throughout the harbor, and there’s a large lot located around the corner on Mill Wharf.
