Perch, Small Room-3Every once in awhile, you find a place that’s easy and accommodating enough to take the family for brunch of dinner, yet fun and hip enough to grab a kiddie-free cocktail with friends. Our latest find in this sweet spot is Perch 143 in Cohasset. With the 1-4-3 offering a shout out to nearby landmark Minot’s Ledge Light, this charming and tasty kid-friendly South Shore spot is “perched” upstairs from GloveUp boxing and other Cohasset Village retailers. The open, casual and airy spot has great views of the spire of St. Stephen’s church across the way, rustic beams and vaulted ceilings, and just enough of a hum of activity to drown out the noise from a tumultuous toddler. Much like its kid-friendly sister restaurant Crow’s Landing, you’ll find a staff that’s welcoming to families, an ample supply of clean boosters and high chairs, and the company of other families in the dining room.

family-friendly restaurant tip With a large parking lot just outside the door, it is best to leave the strollers behind. If you do find yourself arriving on foot, there is plenty of stroller parking in the downstairs entry space so you won’t have to lug things up the stairs, or, take the elevator up and ask the staff to help you stash it.

Excellent. Kids cups arrive by default, the wait staff isn’t flustered by kid-friendly requests, and the service is the perfect family-friendly blend of attentive and efficient.

family-friendly restaurant tip Perch 143 fell just shy of our 5 spork rating because it doesn’t have a changing table. But never fear–you’ll find both bathrooms clean and spacious in case you’re in a diaper changing pickle.

Kid’s Menu:

Perch 143 understands that kids like choices, and delivers with the kid’s menu, available for both brunch and dinner. Junior can select from chicken parm, sliders or grilled chicken for his main meal at dinner, plus 2 sides to create a perfect kid-sized and kid-approved meal.
